The motive for being good

I was thinking....     "A good deed is its own reward". A very normal yet life-changing statement. My mom made this statement to me years back and it'll always be a code I stand by.     Building your mindset on this very statement as a Believer is probably one of the best ways to show how good Jesus is. It also proves that you have offered yourself as a living sacrifice to God.     It may look very casual or common to others but it shouldn't be for us... It's an integral part of our Christianity.       Our Lord, Jesus, and the Apostles of the new testament highly emphasized on showing charity, kindness and goodness to others.       Jesus gave us an example to follow... St. John 13:14-15 "And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you." [NLT]     Apostle Paul emphasized on it... Ephesian...

Who are the people you associate yourself with? Do they  make you a better person or not? This is a very essential question every Believer should ask themselves.     The Bible says in 1Corinthians 15:33 that...."𝑫𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅! 𝑬𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒖𝒑𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓, 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓" and it doesn't get truer than that.        If those who you call companions (close or influencial individuals) are carnally minded, you'll begin to exemplify their characters. Gradually, you'll begin to see your focus drift away from God to other unfruitful things.        No matter how spiritually sensitive you are, once you become closely entangled with a carnal mind or an Unbeliever, your mind will most likely get corrupted as well.     The Bible also says that..."𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒂...

Each day comes with various kinds of obstacles or problems; and offences are one of them. People are prone to offend you one way or another. Oftentimes it might be unintentionally but it happens.        Offences are natural phenomenons; a constant. It might come through bickering or arguments or somebody just doing what you dislike. According to the English Dictionary, it is described as a "sin committed against you and what you stand for".       However, as Believers, the moment we encounter this, what are we to do? How are we supposed to react and respond to someone who offends us?       Apostle Paul wrote this to the church in Ephesus..... "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." [Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)]       According to...

As Believers, we need to have a greater understanding of the gravity of God's sacrifice. If we'd actually look deeper into what happened on the cross, we would see that nothing ordinary occurred there. There would be much more value given to Jesus if we could understand what He's coming took and the changes it made.       In the Acts of the Apostles, when Peter encountered some Jews, he told them about Jesus..... "You rejected the man who was holy and innocent. You asked to have a murderer given to you, and you killed the source of life. But God brought him back to life, and we are witnesses to that." [Acts 3:14-15 (God's word)] Jesus coming to this Earth caused Him His very own life! To save you and I, He had to die.          It looks and sounds easier on paper right? Imagine being killed by the ones you came to save? That's how much it took from Him. However, the book of Hebrews says....."𝑯𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒐𝒚 𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅...

As Believers we should be aware that God's spirit, through the virtues of Jesus Christ, now permanently resides in our hearts. In St. John's Gospel, Jesus said to His disciples right before He was crucified...."𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑯𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒓, 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖".       Now, if we have God's spirit in us, what are the proofs and expressions of the Spirit? What traits does it produce?  Apostle Paul reveals to us, in His Epistle to the church in Galatia, the answer.... "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, (which brings forth) joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)].      Anything done that doesn't have or isn't driven by God's love cannot be inspired by His Spirit. The evidence of God to the world is His love manifested in and through u...

There's nothing about God's nature that can be found outside of Jesus. There's no representation of God more perfect and accurate than the person of Jesus.   The writer of the book of Hebrews tells us something very amazing.... "He reflects the brightness of God's glory and is the exact likeness of God's own being, sustaining the universe with his powerful word. After achieving forgiveness for the sins of all human beings, he sat down in heaven at the right side of God, the Supreme Power." [Hebrews 1:3 (GNT)]      Jesus, during His reign on the Earth, was the perfect imprint of the Father. God was manifesting His existence through Him. According to John's Gospel, when Jesus was asked by a disciple to show them the Father, He said...."𝑯𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓". This implies that Jesus was God's reflection to the world.         The world before walked with the inaccurate knowled...

According to scriptures, it is only through hearing and believing the Gospel that a person can receive the gift of salvation.  However, Apostle Paul lamented on this in his Epistle to the church in Rome..... "But how can people call on him if they have not believed in him? How can they believe in him if they have not heard his message? How can they hear if no one tells the Good News? How can people tell the Good News if no one sends them? As Scripture says, "How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who announce the Good News." [Romans 10:14-15 (God'sword)]       For the message of the Gospel to reach the world, people have to be appointed for it. Amazingly, we Believers have been entrusted with this responsibility.  The Bible says, in 2Corinthians, that.."𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑯𝒊𝒎".        As Believers, we are God's ambassadors.       Did you know that as a Believer, you are victorious. The moment you became born again, you were born into victory. The Bible tells us that...."𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅". So good!      Through Jesus Christ and His great works, by which we are now born again, we have overcome anything that is of this world. Death, sickness, lack, depression, loneliness, addictions, guilt, principalities, powers, e.t.c.        However, what made us to have victory over anything that is of this world?  Apostle John wrote something amazing in his First Epistle.... 1 John 4:4 (KJV) "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."        Now, who is in God's children? His Spirit! The Spirit of God in a Believer is what made him/her to become victors over this world. God's Spirit in a ...

Too many times, due to the pressures of trials and challenges, we easily give up on God. Many get so overwhelmed in their minds with the tensions happening around them that they begin to lose focus on God's goodness and promises.     Apostle Paul said something really stunning in his letter to the church in Philipi.... Philippians 4:6(NLT) "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."     The best thing to do when trials come is not to worry but to pray to the Father. If you overwhelm yourself with worries, your focus on God will be lost. Anxiety is the one of many factors that drains a person's faith. Anxiety makes you to forget all what God has done.     Apostle Peter said in his...

Apostle Paul said something amazing in his epistle to the church of Ephesus..... Ephesians 2:8-9(NLT) "God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."     Salvation (which is being saved/going to heaven) isn't earned by deeds or works. It's impossible for a person to attain salvation just by the good things they've done.  Even Isaiah 64:6 said...."𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒅𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔, 𝒘𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒚 𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒔". Ouch!        It's impossible to attain salvation by works simply because it's a gift! More importantly, it's a free gift from God. It's not meant to be earned, it's supposed to be received. If it were possible to get saved by works, we would boast about it but thank God we are saved b...

At the start of hearing this, you will get a little startled but if you look harder, you'd find it to be true.     Your value is based on how much a person is willing to give up for you. Or in a more classy term, your 𝐍𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡. Everyone has a value for everyone. Some are worth little but some are worth great.     Now, one may ask, "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒆?". Take a look at Peter's Epistle.... Peter 1:18&19 (GNT) "Realize that you weren't set free from the worthless life handed down to you from your ancestors by a payment of silver or gold which can be destroyed. Rather, the payment that freed you was the precious blood of Christ, the lamb with no defects or imperfections."   The value God placed on you is imperishable. It ...

Dear friend, God has never and can never stop loving you. Just like a mother loves her little baby, God's love for you is a million times greater. It's virtually impossible to fathom.     The Book of Jeremiah 31:3 says,  "the Lord appeared to them from a distance: I have loved you with a love that lasts forever. And so with unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself." (CEB)   Long before you existed, God has loved you. And the love which He has loved you with endures forever.      God's love for you endures circumstances or tempations. It's unwavering and unfailing. There's literally nothing you could do to make God stop loving you.      Never doubt God's love for you, no matter what you are facing or what you have done. If you feel alone or weak, rest on His love.

Showing forth His praise

1 Peter 2:9  "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;"     A lot of times I've have looked at this verse and just used it Willy nilly and did not actually sit back to fully understand what Apostle Peter was saying.     Using the law of post-text, let's get a understanding of what was being said👇     1 Peter 2:9  "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;"   "We are a chosen generation.....a royal priesthood....a holy nation....a peculiar people."     Now that we have become this in and through Christ, what should we do next?👇👇      "that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of da...

One with Christ

𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 What is the meaning of Christ? Christ can be defined in Greek as "Christos" which means the "𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒏𝒆" or in Hebrew as "Mashiyach" which translates, the "𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒏𝒆".  When we say "𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕", we must understand that Christ is not a surname of Jesus but a reference given to him, describing him as the "𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒏𝒆".   Now, what was Jesus anointed with that made him to be referred to as "𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒏𝒆"?  𝗡𝗟𝗧 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙨 10 𝙫𝙨 38:  And no doubt you know that "𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒂𝒛𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒚 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓". Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the Devil, for God was with him. It shows here in this verse that Jesus of Nazareth was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power. Hence, he was called "Anointed one...

Heed to God's word

Anytime you go against the will of God or fall into temptations, do not dwell on guilt. Heed to what God has said about you. . . . You need to understand what has been written concerning you in the Bible.  Hebrews 10:16  “This is the covenant that I will make with them in the days to come, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts and write them on their minds.” Hebrews 10:17 And then he says, “I will not remember their sins and evil deeds any longer.” Hebrews 10:18 So when these have been forgiven, an offering to take away sins is no longer needed.     Look at Hebrews 10:16....   Hebrews 10:16  “This is the covenant that I will make with them in the days to come, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts and write them on their minds.” . . . What are the days that is to come? Now! Now that Christ has died and resurrected. . . . Now, look at verse 17 Hebrews 10:17 And then he says, “I will not remember their sins and evil deeds any lo...

Lean on God

Beloved, do not lean or trust on yourself to please God but trust in Christ Jesus. . . . You can never please God by your works. It is impossible.  . . . In the old testament, it is said that a man's act of righteousness is as a "filthy rag" unto God. Good works was just not enough to meet the standard of being right with God. . . . But even though we were like filthy rags, He still loved us. With an unending and everlasting love. . . . In the book of Romans 5 vs 8, Apostle Paul "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." . . . God didn't come to die for us because of we've been good our whole lives, He died for us because we've been bad and were still doing bad. . . . This is not a reward, it's a gift. This was not earned, it is free. It was not works but Grace. Ephesians 2:5  Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved)!!! . . . Christ h...

Understanding God

Beloved, let your understanding of God be based on what is written in the scriptures. . . . See, when you have a poor understanding of the scriptures or no understand at all, you will percieve the character and personality of God amiss. . . . One thing you must understand is that Jesus Christ is the true and perfect description of God. Look at Hebrews 1 vs 3 Hebrews 1:1 This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God's nature. He holds everything together by what he says—powerful words! The Son is how God is. Jesus is God in the flesh. . . . Every single description and understanding of God outside of the person of Christ is very wrong. . . . Look at this, every single person on Earth, after the Fall of Adam, until Christ came chose to have little or no understanding of who God was. Romans 1:28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; They chose not to retain ...

For the Youth

There are quite a number of individuals, especially youths, that are going through a lot in this era.  . . . Daily, they are faced with the everydayness of this life; continually being hit with the tests and no-good seductions it usually offers . . . "This girl became sexually active at a very young age and a boy joined a cult at the age of 12". Day by day, this phrases seem to be getting very common. The Media even worsens it the more. . . . All that is happening to them is not their fault. It all started with Adam. Romans 5:12  Why, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed on all men, for that all have sinned: Adam's disobedience caused Sin to come into the world. Hence, the very nature of man was that of a sinner.  . . . Even if you didn't sin in the manner of Adam, you were still a sinner. Meaning, even though you did good, much good, your nature was still as that of a sinner because of Adam's disobedience. Roman...
