The Commandment of God

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱

John 12:50

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatever I speak therefore, even as the Father said to me, so I speak.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 can be defined as an order that was given or an "𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒕" (a proclamation of a Law or an authoritative command).

𝗟𝗮𝘄, on the other hand, is defined a body of rules and standards of a particular region.

In some other cases, in the Bible, it can be used to define "A well-established, observed physical characteristic or behavior of nature".

When Jesus was one Earth, most particularly on getting to his death, he spoke to his disciples about certain commandments which were endorsed by God.

John 14:15

"If you love me, keep my commandments."

John 14:21

"He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."

John 15:10

"If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love."

Now, as one might ask, what exactly are these commandments? Could they be the Ten commandments given to Moses? Not at all. Let's look at what Jesus said also in John's account.

In Apostle John's Epistle, he explained what the commandments given to Jesus was

1 John 3:22

"And whatever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight."

1 John 3:23

"And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment."

Let's look at verses in another translation for better understanding

MSG

1 John 3:21-23

"And friends, once that's taken care of and we're no longer accusing or condemning ourselves, we're bold and free before God! We're able to stretch our hands out and receive what we asked for because we're doing what he said, doing what pleases him."

"Again, this is God's command: to believe in his personally named Son, Jesus Christ. He told us to love each other, in line with the original command."

"As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave us."

God's command, as said by Jesus, is to believe or to put our Faith in the name of Jesus.

Now let's look at verse 21

1 John 3:22

"And whatever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight."

It says we ask and receive because "WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS". How?

We have kept his commandments by believing in the name of Jesus.

Romans 10:9

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.".

The moment you believe in Jesus Christ, you are saved. From what?

John 3:15

"That whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

In Christ, we are saved from perishing (Hell) and have received Eternal Life (Heaven).

So as Believers, we have fulfilled the commandments of God!

Justification by Faith

𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰: Justified by Faith 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁: Romans 5 vs 1  "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"     Justification, in context with the verse above, means to be absolved (to set free, release ) and declared free of blame or sin.     Through the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, all those who believe in him are justified or set free of sin. Romans 4:25  "Who was betrayed and put to death because of our misdeeds and was raised to secure our justification (our acquittal), [making our account balance and absolving us from all guilt before God]."     𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 "𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧"? By Faith     Romans 4:24  "But [they were written] for our sakes too. [Righteousness, standing acceptable to God] will be granted and credited to us also who believe in (trust in, adhere to, and rely on) God, Who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead," ...

As Believers, we need to have a greater understanding of the gravity of God's sacrifice. If we'd actually look deeper into what happened on the cross, we would see that nothing ordinary occurred there. There would be much more value given to Jesus if we could understand what He's coming took and the changes it made.       In the Acts of the Apostles, when Peter encountered some Jews, he told them about Jesus..... "You rejected the man who was holy and innocent. You asked to have a murderer given to you, and you killed the source of life. But God brought him back to life, and we are witnesses to that." [Acts 3:14-15 (God's word)] Jesus coming to this Earth caused Him His very own life! To save you and I, He had to die.          It looks and sounds easier on paper right? Imagine being killed by the ones you came to save? That's how much it took from Him. However, the book of Hebrews says....."𝑯𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒐𝒚 𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅...

"For with God, nothing is impossible".

"For with God, nothing is impossible". If it was possible for the sin of one man to make you a sinner, then it's not impossible for the righteousness of one man to make you righteous.   If it was possible for you to be doomed for Hell because of one man's sin, it's possible for you to be saved by one man's resurrection.     The Old man was of a sinful nature but the New creation man is of an Immortal, incorruptible and righteous nature.      Those who are born again are not born in or of the flesh but of the Spirit. There are not born of the Earthly but of the Heavenly. They are not born of Man but of God!   When you judge your nature by the understanding of the flesh, you misinterpret and misunderstand who you really are.     You are righteous. You are Holy. You are without blemish or spots. God is pleased with you. You are the Righteousness of God.   That's who you really are!   How did it all happen? "For with God, nothing...
